In May, 400 pupils from Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun; Ysgol Gymraeg Santes Tudful;
Gwaunfarren Primary; Goetre Primary and St Aloysius Catholic Primary School,
signed up to POSSIB, the bilingual participatory arts project in Canolfan
Soar and learned a dance created by Scottish Ballet. They performed it in
the Engine House in Dowlais on May 16th as part of the Big Dance Schools
Pledge 2014. Over 68,000 people from 24 countries learned and performed the
Pledge at the very same time!
The Engine House was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm and a week later,
some of the pupils performed again at the Global Village Festival – well done
everyone, you made the sun shine on a drizzly day!
Meanwhile, stories and illustrations are being created with a view to
publishing a local storybook, and coming soon in POSSIB, some of the Big
Dance boys, will take part in workshops led by the Wales Millennium Centre’s
dance ambassadors for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures production of ‘Lord of
